What should I consider when buying art?
Here are some basic points that are worth considering when buying art.
- Make sure you get as much information as possible. Arm yourself with the facts and gain an understanding of what you are looking at and who and how it has been made.
- If you have time visit as many different galleries as possible. It can be a wonderful day out looking at and learning about different art and artists.
- Contact your local council or newspapers to find out about up and coming exhibitions. Often you will find theatres, cinemas, cafes, hotels, restaurants, bars and libraries show art which is for sale.
- Many of the major art schools around the UK have degree shows. These often take place in May or June annually.
